About Tiska Aylesbury

Aylesury club welcomes children from the age of 4 years old, and encourages their parents to join too! As well as learning a traditional martial art, there are many benefits that we strive for our students to achieve:

  • Fitness
  • Self Awareness
  • Self Defence
  • Confidence
  • Etiquette
  • Respect
  • Self Discipline

Karate is taught in three aspects:

  • Kihon (basic technique)
  • Kata (forms/patterns)
  • Kumite (sparring)

Each of these aspects make up your grading syllabus, and before being ready to grade for your next belt, we will ensure that you are confident in all of these areas. It takes practice and dedication, but as you progress through the belt system, you will find your abilities and confidence increasing.

The Club Instructor

Aylesbury Shotokan Karate is one of the association’s many successful clubs and offers training sessions each week. . Our club has members with a wide mix of abilities, from beginner to 2nd Dan black belt from a broad range of professional and social backgrounds. Children are increasingly attracted to karate and the club has members as young as five. Our members include families who have trained together for many years from beginner through to black belt.

In addition to our normal training regime of Kihon, Kata and Kumite (see Shotokan Karate below), students of the club also participate in association gradings, courses and competitions throughout the year. Competitions are designed for all skill levels and ages and provide an opportunity to demonstrate the skills of all our Karate-Ka's (Karate practitioners).
